CONCRETE PLACING

Delivered concrete has up to 12% air trapped in it.  If the air is not removed, concrete will only be half as strong.  Air is removed by vibrating and compacting the concrete . Placing must be done at the correct speed, too fast and the compacting crew will not be able to keep up, too slow and the mix will stiffen making placing very difficult.

 

Water content is critical to the finishing and curing process.  The longer concrete is given to dry the stronger the finished product.  If the surface is allowed to dry out too fast it will be weakened and more likely to crack.

 

 

STEEL FIXING / REBAR

Steel fixing/rebar (short for reinforcing bar), also known as reinforcing steel and reinforcement steel, is a common steel bar or mesh of steel wires commonly used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures, to strengthen and hold the concrete in compression. The surface of the rebar may be patterned to form a better bond with the concrete.

CONCRETE REINFORCING

Concrete Reinforcing is the process of tieing steel reinforcing bars to the required spacing and dimensions, encasing it in formwork moulds and pouring concrete to the required level allowing it to harden.

 

 

POWER FLOATING

Power floated concrete results in a hard wearing finished surface, suitable for high trafficked areas both foot and fork lift dependent on depth. Power float machines are fitted with circular pans to help smooth the concrete before metal blades are rotated over the surface adjusting the tilt to achieve a hardened surface.

 

 

WATERPROOFING

Glenform Construction Ltd provide are able to provide reliable waterproofing solutions for all applications.  We can install and supply, high quality membranes, which in turn helps to protect structures from the damaging effects of water. As a company we provide a team of trained and experienced waterproof technicians.  Waterproofing membranes relies on exacting application which is part of the service we provide.
